WEEK 66
My weekly letter is ¨Well that's neat!¨
This week was super interesting. After spending 9 months in Torre
Alta, I was thinking I was going to spend a couple transfers being a
step dad (2nd companion) to a newer missionary and then end my mish as
a Zone Leader. God had other plans. Yesterday during transfer meeting,
they called my name first and said. ¨We are going to save you for
last¨ after everyone found out, they said ¨Elder Garfield you are
going to be the new Zone Leader in Cien Fuegos with Elder Medrano¨ i
was like ¨WHAT!?!?!¨ I was so shocked! I am so glad and grateful to
have been given this great new opportunity and responsibility to serve
the fellow missionaries in this leadership position! The new area is
kinda poor but I am super excited to serve here! We had 1 baptism last
Saturday in Torre Alta and it was awesome! Ana Dilcia, after 16 years
investigating the church, decided to get baptized and I was so proud
of her! She will be strong for sure! Well that's about it! I love and
miss you all!

WEEK 65
This week is called "Well, could you say good timing?"
This week has been super interesting. With 2 baptismal dates last week, we now only have 1 for this Saturday! Ana Dilcia has been investigating the church for 16 years. She has been an off and on investigator through all these years! She is what we call "A dry member" because she has not gotten to the waters of baptism. She is so awesome and hilarious. Yes, I know, "Elder Garfield, another woman baptism and no man?!" What can I say, womens spirits like my spirit. I am hoping to get a family soon. I am sure it will come! I think I might be getting transferred this next week but we will see! I have been here for 8 months which is crazy long to be in an area. I pretty much know everyone in this area! Torre Alta has been good to me. I have found many Dominican Mothers who have taken such good care of me! I have been so blessed by being here! I love you and miss you all so much! Have a great week!

WEEK 64
This week is called ¨3 down and 1 to go¨
Well I must say I loved Conference! It was great! I loved every message and felt like the Brethren were talking just to me! I love the mission and all the great blessings it offers! I really cant imagine my life without it! I have learned so many great things here! We have 2 baptismal dates for the 18th so I hope they keep with it! This week has been tough but very meaningful! I have been having a problem with keeping focus on what my duty is here and have been taking it easy the last week! I repented, no worries and this week will be a very good week, I promise! I am so grateful for the Atonement and even though I am not perfect, I can get there. I have missed my fam a bit this week because of Conference but I will be home in 2! Cant wait! I love you and miss you all so much!

WEEK 63
My weekly letter is called "20 years and going strong"
Well this week has been very interesting! We have put 2 baptismal dates with a old man named Leocardio and a woman named Ana Dilcia. They are not related in no way. Something interesting about Dilcia is she has been investigating the church since '87 so we put a date with her for the 18th of October and she accepted! She is one tough cookie! Things here in Torre Alta have been great! We have been looking for new families to teach and we have actually had some good luck! I am so greatful to be a missionary here in DR. It is a very challenging mission (or so I imagine compared to many others) but that has helped me become a stronger member and a more faithful son of Heavenly Father. Also, this week we had intercambios (exchanges) with the DL Elder Graves and his trainee Elder Brindley. I went with Elder Brindley and it just so happens that he lives in ST GEEZY and went to Snow Canyon so we just talked about good ole Southern Utah life! I gave him some tips about mission life and he helped me with being more excited to go out and teach even if you are super excited about it. Well I am freaking out! Tomorrow and 9 months more, I will be hugging my fam and sleeping in my own bed! Wow time surely flies fast! Thanks for all the love, support and prayer! I love and miss you all!
