Week 32

Well this week is called ¨Speak it, and it will come¨
Well this week has been so up and down. I have been so happy, and upset every other moment. Something amazing happens, then something bad happens. SATAN IS ATTACKING. I can tell he is doing his hardest to discourage me but I will beat him. I am loving the area. Adeli is progressing insanely fast. Her baptism is on the 8th of March. We have 2 other progressing very rapidly but they aren't married and have 10 kids between the 2 of them. Haha that's the DR life. I love my mission but have struggled with the language so much. I mumble my Spanish just like my English and even when I pronounce them, they are like ¨Talk faster gringo¨ ha but I will get this language. I just hope it comes soon! My comp decided to fast EVERY SATURDAY because he says that's what he did with his trainer and it brought success. So I have fasted twice and so far, we have a baptism in 2 weeks. Maybe it does work. I shook Elder Zivic from the 70's hand and he gave a talk in our stake and it was super good! He has the spirit so strongly with him! I will get to talk to him in 2 weeks in a mission tour he is doing! Cant Wait! I am so ready to just make this area what I have visioned it to be so i am still so ready to work and my comp is right there with me! thanks for all the prayers and support!

WEEK 31

Well my weekly letter is called ¨Paradise Preaching¨ Well besides all the really big houses, I haven't felt so out of place thus far in my mission then I do now. Ha. I am so used to four walls made of concrete but these houses are.. Nice. Well I love my area. I am serving in Torre Alta, Puerto Plata: Where the White people look and act whiter and whiter everyday! I contacted this week in English. It was hard! But I love my new companion too! Elder Vargas is a horse. He has almost the same face as Elder Vazquez, my trainer, and it freaks me out sometimes. We are working super hard here and we love it! I am slowly but surely getting Spanish. Its hard. But Elder Day lives close to me so I see that Rascal often! I am so grateful I am here serving this mission! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else! These 2 years will be probably be the most difficult but for sure the best 2 of my life! I love and thank you all for the support and blessing!

WEEK 29

I call this week ¨Time went where?¨ Well this transfer FLEW BY. I am half grateful, half sad. If my time continues like that, I will be home in no time. This week was good. I have been slaving away in my area and have found some fruit from my labors. We found 2 families that seem like they could be prepared for baptism... All they need now is to get married. That is the biggest problem here next to the mosquitoes. NOBODY IS MARRIED EXCEPT THE BISHOPRIC. It rough. I have grown so much closer to my Heavenly Father this transfer and have done a lot of praying. MISSIONS ARE HARD. I wish I would have prepared better. But I will learn out in the field because I don't have much of an option! I have really done some thinking in my life too and really was thinking how I want to live my life after my mission and I have made some big decisions! I love my mission so much! This place has taught me so much! I miss you and love you all! Hope you are doing great!! Elder Garfield

I asked him if they do a lot of service and this was his answer:
we had service last week but people don't accept service here. they get like really embarrassed. But we cleaned a members front yard of weeds and it reminded me of home!

I asked if he gets to go back and see his 2 investigators from San Fran, get baptized and he said:
Things here are getting better. We have 2 families and like 6 other investigators. We are working with Less Actives a ton now. I think I am going this Saturday to see them get baptized.
