WEEK 92

this weekly letter is called ¨Relajo¨ Well this week has been pretty great! We have 2 baptisms planned for this Saturday and I also should be going to the temple with my recent converts to do their endowments so I am more than stoked! This Saturday Esmeralda and Joan will be getting baptized and I thought I would share the story of Esmeralda! So Esmeralda is 17 and one of my most favorite soon to be converts! One day Elder Day and I were walking down the street to do some contacting in an area we really have never worked in. We went and passed by a member to talk to her a bit and ask for a reference then all of a sudden this girl comes out of nowhere and tells us ¨My sister wants you to preach to her and my family¨ This happens on the day that we get told to teach someone with the main intention being to bible bash us or talk bad about our religion. So we went down, met Esmeralda and the girl that told us to preach to them was actually Esmeraldas sister, Yuneiry. We started the lesson and it went pretty well. We invited them all to church and we weren't expecting them to go. The next Sunday, Esmeralda showed up and we were so surprised! We passed by again the next week and we found out that missionaries used to pass by her house to teach her mom but she was never interested. Since then, she has progressed so much and has accepted EVERYTHING (She even has attended the last 2 weeks of seminary without missing once!). Last night, we had a lesson with her and we brought Yeilin because they are friends and we thought it would be good to have her there. We teach her a little bit about how important her baptism is going to be and what she has to expect for the future. At the end of the lesson, she decided to tell us that is so crazy how much her life has changed from learning about this gospel. She said the day that she sent her sister to talk to us, she was just trying to play a joke on us and did not expect to accept really much of  anything. When we taught her the first lesson, she said she felt something very special and since that day, her life has changed! She now has plans on going on a mission at the same time as Yeilin (my other recent convert) and she hasn't even got baptized yet. This mission is so awesome. I love the mission life and all the amazing experiences that I have had here! I love you and thanks for all your love and support! Have a great week! Elder Garfield

WEEK 91

Well this weekly letter is called ¨Brujería¨ Well this week was kind of strange. We have worked super dooper hard and we have 2 baptisms planned for the 25th. One is Esmeralda, a girl THAT CONTACTED US and now is the one who teaches US the lessons. The other is Joan, a young man that is the step son of one of our less actives. We have seen so many great things happen in our area along with some pretty strange ones. There is a neighborhood that we always visit and this last week we go to visit one of our investigators who lived in an apartment next to one of our recently reactivated less actives. As we got to the house, the grandma of the investigator told us that the less active wasn't there and that she has been acting super strange lately. The less active was leaving with us to teach every other day and was getting super active in the church but this last week she stopped leaving. So the grandma of the investigator told us that the LA (less active) was at her moms house so we decided to go look for her. When we got there, she told us she didn't feel right in the other house cause she caught word that they were practicing witch-craft and she didn't want to go back to the house. We are super sketched to go back to that neighborhood and teach the people in the apartment building now. Haha it was super scary. But other than that, super good week. haha. I am so glad to be a missionary even though sometimes weird things happen! Thanks for all your love and support! I love and miss you all! Elder Garfield

WEEK 90

okay. This week is called ¨99¨ This week has been great! General Conference was amazing! I loved so many talks. I think my favorite was either Elder Neilsons or Elder Hollands. They went back to back and I cried during both of them! I am so glad to be a member of this church and glad we have a true and living prophet who loves us and guides us. I heard the ¨opposed¨ while they were sustaining the prophet and the apostles. Just as the scriptures say ¨There is opposition in all things¨ people will go against what would be the worlds ¨unpopular vote¨ but just like Christ said ¨we are not of this world¨ I know that this church is true and I am glad to be out fighting in the trenches for it! I know that this is the true church of Christ and he is the head of this church! We are seeing great miracles here in Cien Fuegos and I cant wait to see what the Lord has in store for us in the zone! I love and miss you all! Have a great week! Elder Garfield

WEEK 89

This week is called ¨Gen-Con: Round 4¨ Well this week has been super fun! Elder Day and I have seen so many miracles since being together! We have accomplished so much and our zone is completing their goals! We have seen so many good missionaries become great! I am proud to see my zone is changing. This weekend I will be blessed to hear General Conference. It will be my last in the mission which is extremely weird to say! I cant believe this is my 4th and final! I have loved General Conference on the mish and I hope that everyone that we have invited will go! This last Saturday Elder Day and I baptized Jennifer Reyes Torres. Jennifer is the little sister to my other recent convert Yeilin! Jennifer was a lot harder to get to baptism for some of  her doubts and misunderstandings that she created but we are proud to say that she is now a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know this Church is true and I am so proud to have a Prophet who loves us and guides us through this ¨temporary home¨. I know Thomas S. Monson is a true Prophet and I know he has been chosen by God to be the Prophet of the true Church of Christ! I am so grateful for my mission and for all that I have learned here! I love you and miss you all! Talk to you soon! Elder Garfield
